SUMMARY:Legal Responsibilities - Carrying with Knowledge
DESCRIPTION:This three-hour course follows the legal framework education required as part of the curriculum for an Oklahoma Handgun Permit (SDA). \nIf you obtained your permit before October 2023 or are simply Constitutionally Carrying\, there have been significant revisions in your legal responsibilities\, should you use your firearm or other weapon in self-defense. These revisions occurred in October 2023\, November 2024\, and again in March 2025. \nThis shortened course does NOT satisfy the certification required to apply for your permit but DOES equip you with the knowledge to carry with confidence. \nShould you decide to continue with the full course and apply\, you may simply pay the balance for the full course and stay for the remainder of the class time and attend the range portion. This short course is taught in conjunction with students attending the full course.

DESCRIPTION:This course satisfies the OSBI education requirement to apply for your Oklahoma SDA Handgun Permit. Providing a review of the legal framework guiding lawful carry\, basic safety\, and shooting fundamentals. This class does NOT instruct an individual on how to shoot. Each participant should be familiar with and capable of operating their firearm. \n\nCash is always welcome. Credit and debit cards accepted for balance plus 3.5%. Payable immediately before course begins.\nFirearm: Students encouraged to bring their own firearm. The firearm may be a semi-automatic or revolver\, .45 caliber or less\, with .22LR suggested. Pistols (22LR) with ammunition will be available for rent.\nAmmunition: Students should bring 200 rounds of factory ammunition\, or at least 100 rounds. Reloads\, commercial or home-made\, are not permitted.\nEye and hearing protection: Students should bring eye and hearing protection\, with electronic hearing protection recommended.\nClothing: Students should wear appropriate range attire\, which does not include open-toed shoes or low-cut clothing.\nOther items: Students should bring pencil and note pad.\nInstructor will provide snacks and water\, but not a meal.
